Not long now to get your challenge entries in. Here is another post from Diane Ingram. I have some great feedback about Diane's post with people asking me to make sure she does more for Oak House Studio.... Well I have always loved her input so will certainly ask her again.
Stamp and Stick
Sometimes a card just doesn’t seem enough, so I love to make
little personalised gifts….and I love to incorporate vintage items. I had
little piece of vintage braid which I thought would be great for a “Something
Blue” project. Oak House Studio Cobalt and Powder Blue pigment inks were a
fantastic match so I decided to try making my own self-adhesive stickers to
attach onto a very inexpensive candle. I have done this technique before but
with dye inks. I must admit it has been sometime since I used pigment inks and
I had forgotten how nice they can look. The opaque effect does have a different
quality and works so well with a solid stamp like the elegant Mountain Ash stamp.
This really is a simple and easy project and sticky backed
plastic is the only other item needed (the technique also works with clear
packing tape or sellotape).
Cut a chunk suitable for the stamp
Crease a fold down the edge
Then peel back to the fold to reveal the sticky side (mostly
static will hold the front – non sticky side
- of the clear panel to your work surface but if you experience problems
lightly dampen the work top with a wet wipe and this should hold it in place
while you work).
Stamp the image onto the sticky side….don’t worry the
plastic retains its stickiness! I inked my stamp with two blue colours plus
white to create an ombrē effect…
WARNING! If you want to keep your white ink pad
clean….ink this first…..if you work dark to light, the white pad will get
contaminated…..DOH! guess who didn’t do this….lucky I was using an old pad !!!
Replace the backing over the image and cut round the image.
The backing can then be removed and the image attached to your project.
I repeated this step with the fantastic little stitched stamp from Oak House ….I love
this stamp it’s one of those useful additions that can add that all important
finishing touch….plus its bang on trend at the moment.
As a finishing touch I made a matching tag.
