A Very Seasonal Christmas Wreath Card

Hi Sylvia here with a short post with a Christmas card and a reminder that this month's challenge is "Winter", an ideal opportunity to get those Christmas cards started and enter the challenge too.

Today I have been playing with the Oak House Studio  Christmas wreath stamp set. My wreath was stamped onto a cut out circle using the individual stamps in this set, then cut out with a craft knife before mounting onto my card.  The branches were lightly stamped round the edge and the leaves added to form the wreath, the berries were created  using the poinsettia center from the bumper winter leaves stamp set. The sentiment was stamped in the center of the wreath and a red ribbon added to finish the card.  I used Oak House Studio pigment inks which were added to the stamps then sprayed with a fine mist of water.

How to use the Christmas Wreath Stamp set

Elaine here with a wintery card using the Christmas Wreath Stamps  - it's a set of 7 stamps including solid Holly & Ivy stamps, some stems so you can build your own wreath and a Happy Christmas sentiment stamp.

For this card I've stamped and clear embossed the wreath shape and then sprayed with French Mint Ink in a Bottle.  Once this was dry I ironed off the embossing powder to leave the white twigs and then stamped the Holly and Ivy with Sea Green and Forest Green Pigment Inks.  I love this combination of colours!!   I've just added the sentiment from the Deck the Halls set to finish and added some Stickles and gems to make it look frosty!

It's a very versatile set of stamps - you can make whatever size wreath you like or just create one corner or a border!   I hope I've inspired you to have a go and don't forget to enter the Winter Challenge in the INKSPIRED group on facebook.

Products Used:

- Christmas Corner unmounted stamp

- Christmas Blessings

- Christmas Wreath Stamp set

- Forest Green and Yummy Chocolate Pigment Ink

This project was really fun to make and came out a lot better than expected!

Here's a 10 step guide of how I did it:
1. Paint a base layer of white acrylic paint on the MDF shape
2. Draw around the shape onto stamping card and cut out, so that you have a card heart
3. Stamp the Christmas Corner unmounted stamp around the edges using Forest Green Pigment Ink
4. Colour the flowers and holly in red. I used a marker but you could easily use some Acrylic Ink.
5. Using brushes lightly take the edge off the white background using Yummy Chocolate Pigment Ink
6. Gold emboss (you could use some of the Gold Embossing Powder) the Christmas Blessings and some of the Holly from the Christmas Wreath Stamp set
7. Using a strong glue attach the stamping card you have just used to the MDF shape.
8. Go over the top of the shape with some gloss to give a protective covering
9. Go around the edges of the shape with some building wax (I used one that is gold with a tinge of green)
10. Punch a hole in the top and attach some ribbon.

And then you're done! Your own handmade christmas decorations. Mini versions could look lovely on your tree or this one is the right size to go on your wall!
