Childhood is the most beautiful of all seasons ~ Colour Chemistry

Hi everyone, hope you are all having a crafty time. Tracy here today with the final layout to share, you will find them all in this months issue of Scrapbook Magazine.

By now you  can probably tell I have a love for layers and old book pages, they work so well with the range of products from Oak House Studio.

 Spraying through masks to add interest to the book papers, inking and stamping, splatting and flicking . . . oh my what a time I had!

I felt like a chemist mixing my Gesso and modelling paste with splots from the Inks in a bottle.

 Oh, did I mention the inks I have been playing with are the The French Quartet collection, deeeeelish!

Using them like watercolours to colour the images, splodging and flicking to create pretty flowers , who thought splodges could look so pretty,lol!

Above all watch with glittering eyes . . . Colour Chemistry Galore

 Hi everyone, Tracy here and excited to share the layout I let you have a sneak peek at in my last post.

What makes me happy . . . old book papers, music sheets, tissue paper, doilies, lace, cupcakes and threads . . . hmmmm how to combine them all in a layout with bursts of colour . . .

. . . ink, ink . . . Ink in a Bottle, beautiful vibrant colours sprayed, splatted, squished and dried to create a co ordinating  layout.

I honestly wished I had taken a picture of my hands after this one . . . beautiful vibrant rainbow coloured happy hands!

All for the love of inks ~ Colour Chemistry

Hi everyone, my name`s Tracy Easson and I`m so excited to be here as a guest designer for

 Oak House Studio, thank you for having me!

 I was over the moon when I received a commission from Scrapbook Magazine to create three layouts using products from the Colour Chemistry range for this months Issue.

 It was as if Christmas had came early when the box of goodies arrived at my door!

Can`t wait to show you over the next few posts the layouts and a few other projects I popped together. 

 Oh the joy of creating with the yummiest of inky coloured goodness and stamps galore.

Getting messy inky happy hands, mixing colours to create new shades, stamping and adding them to Gesso and Modelling paste ... my idea of bliss!

Here`s a peek at the next layout I`m sharing

Looking back at my projects with Oak House Studio stamps

I've had such a wonderful year this year and have been very fortunate to be working with Oak House Studio products. Lynnda asked us to choose some of our favourite moments, this proved to be tricky with so many fabulous stamps to choose from.

 

This card was so much fun to make it really sticks in my mind as being one of my favourites. I can remember being more then a little bit inky after making this one.

This was the very first card I made for Oak House Studios DT. I can remember being extremely nervous as I wanted to get it so right. It was the something blue challenge.

Using Oak House Studios inks, stamps and ink pads have not been a challenge. This is one of my makes from this years one stamp challenge. I had never been involved in a project such as this but it was exceptionally good fun.

This one was from the autumn colours challenge. I love these leaf stamps and the gorgeous colourful inks in a bottle made light work of colouring them in.

That was a round up of some of my favourite Oak House Studio makes of this year.

Education

Whilst on a recent demo I was asked if I was self taught or if I had been on a course. Not a simple answer to this one. I haven't been on "a course" although I did study Printmaking whilst at Leeds Met Uni in the 70's ( it was Leeds Poly in those days) but too be honest it was something I did as a break to the science heavy part of my course, I did really enjoy it and it was probably when I first made cards to send to friends, hard up student and all that. I had wonderful tutor who helped me overcome my fear of drawing and I can't even remember her name how bad is that!
On the subject of making my own cards to give, for that I was inspired by the great Dave Moutrey who sent me the most lovely etched Christmas card in 1976. I still have it somewhere.
Did do some projects over the years, most of which I would not want to see now, but I started to get more involved again, when I started working full time with Martin after I left teaching, since then I have been the proverbial sponge, you soak up things here and there. I have done workshops that last 30 minutes and three day escapes and treats. I have watched TV and you tube too.

The scientist in me makes me think, what will happen if, as a scientist you use your present knowledge to predict the outcome and then you test that theory.
I did a short workshop with Leandra Franich at a recent trade fair where she suggested a different way of doing Crackle Effect, also done something different with Jo Channon 12 months earlier, so recently sat down with a dozen or so pieces of mount board and trailed variations of their ideas and the method I had been using for about 10 years and worked out the factors that worked for me with the material I use.
I think that is a good illustration of how I work.

I would suggest that is how you all craft, you listen to what others have to say, to try things out and you work out what works for you.
