Kerry's Altered Mirror

Hi everybody here below is my first DT project of this year for Oak House Studio...

My project was originally a cream coloured mirror from a bargain store. Here below is how it developed.

I began by applying some  Fabby inks in a bottle available HERE.I spritzed them on to the frame then dried it with my heat gun.I then used the super Walesby Flourish Stamp with my Versamark ink.I covered this with Silver Detail Embossing Powder again heating until it melted.I have added some Perfect Pearls and Black Glitter to finish. Now on to the mirror itself I have stamped the centre with a super sentiment stamp English Garden available HERE.For the edges of the Mirror I have used the Rosette Flower stamp available HERE . I finshed the Mirror again using Perfect Pearls.
Here below is another view of the Mirror I do hope you like it if so pop along to my blog for other Altered items  craftyfairie.blogspot.com .

and the winner is.....

We have been offering a give away on the Oak House Studio facebook page to win the large Sunflower stamp and the English Garden text stamp. Two large stamps worth almost £20. The winner is Susan Jimson who has been sharing quite a lot of Oak House Studio posts and so really deserves to win, so I was pleased when Martin pulled out her name.
Here's a few more ideas of what to do with your Sunflower Stamps:

Firstly the Large Sunflower has been stamped on acetate and then coloured with alcohol inks.

Above is a tri-fold card with the Large Sunflower stamped in Brilliance and a sweet little shrink plastic embellishment. (I have to say I love to use it for shrink plastic)

And lastly, a card using the Medium Sunflower, (which is just a little smaller) clear embossed to create a resist and inked with blues.

The Sunflower Stamps can be bought HERE along with many other designs.  Hope you've been inspired and don't forget to come back on Friday for another series of cards from the Design Team with an eastern feel!! There might even be more give aways shhhh don't tell Martin.

Thank you for  all your comments.

Two More Sunflowers....

Evening all, I have two more Sunflower cards to show you tonight, both similar but different! ;-) I'm willing summer on for everyone, and I do grow lots of Sunflowers every year so it's getting near to 'seeding' time....YAY! However....I'm not wishing my life away, I've far too much to do. haha

Heat embossed and coloured with Promarkers

I masked off every time I stamped, as I didn't want overlap

Same technique here, with the heat embossing, but I've coloured with acrylic paints. First time I've used these, so it's not wonderfully done.

I used yellow, red and gold paint.

I quite like the effect of the paints on black card, it's just a bit different.

Well, that's all for now. You might see the sunflower and the heart stamps turn up on my next set of twinchies, but you'll have to wait a week or so to see them ;-)
Catch you all soon,
Barbara xx

Just a quick post tonight......

Hi everyone, just thought I'd blog my latest two cards using the gorgeous Sunflower stamp.

This one is clean and simple, the stamp speaks for itself. A bit of triple embossing on the Sunflower, and a few seed beads, and voila!

I really like Clean and Simple cards, I'm not afraid to leave a lot of white showing.

This is the same stamp, done in a completely different way......stamped a few times and decoupaged.

The ribbon was dyed with a few colours of Oak House Studio inkpads

The background is just cheap copier paper, which has been soaked with water,  inked with OHS spray inks, dried then ironed!

Hope you like it

Catch you all in a day or so with another couple of 'Sunflower' cards

New Design Team

I feel like there should be trumpets or something. As I keep saying I know the blog is one of my weaknesses and I am really grateful for the team I had last year over the ONE Stamp Project, so I thought why not try again, kick start a a "proper design team". Oh boy I wasn't ready for what happened next, I had thought if I can get 5 or 6 great crafters to share some of the work that will be great. However I have had so many wonderful applications I have chosen seven lovely crafters to get started with. I have also asked another eight to stay with us by slipping in an extra ONE stamp project that you can all join in to if you want.
So who are the lucky 7 who will be getting parcels of inky goodness from Oak House Studio, fanfare please:-

Kerry and has done some work with me before and Barbara kindly jumped on board early. Elaine has been there since the beginning, has designed some of our stamps. As they say she will always be my friend (as she knows more than I can remember!).
Please welcome them on board and encourage them along a the way, check out their blogs and WATCH THIS SPACE.

Three ways to win

Life has been pretty manic here at my end of Oak House Studio, with a new design team coming on board I suddenly have a whole new set of jobs to do, well more about the design team later. First lets talk about ways to win.

1. For a chance to win £25 every time I send out the newsletter (I was going to say every month, but that is another of my weaknesses) sign up for our newsletter on the website. It's free and simple to do and you can un-subscribe if I get to the stage of annoying you. Just Click HERE and leave your details.

2. I am giving away a whole bespoke weekend just for you, this is your chance to come and play with me in my studio, you can chose the workshops and everything will be tailored to you, you can even bring a friend if you would like to, what could be better than that, well it would be better if I give you £50 worth of stash to take home with you too wouldn't it. How do you win just pop over to Crafts Beautiful to find out. I know you can't all win so if you would like a bespoke weekend (or even a couple of days during the week) here are the details on the Oak House Studio website.

3. The  wonderful  and talented Barbara Daines is going to be showing you one of my all time favourite Oak House Studio stamp the large Sunflower along side our English Garden words stamp (not necessarily together). I love both these stamps and use them often. I think they were both on my very first show on Create and Craft. Anyway you can win them both over on the Oak House Studio facebook page.

Good luck Everybody. As before you decide you can't wait, anyone who buys the stamps from the website before the draw will get their money refunded should they win.

Just a quick post tonight......

Evening all, just a quick post tonight to show you a card I've made with Lynnda's fabby products.....and to tell you that you're gonna be seeing a lot more of me in the future....YAY, I'm on the Design Team!
I've already had some great fun using the fabulous products from OHS, and I have another few cards to show you, using the lovely Sunflower stamp.....(would be great for Mother's day cards)  Watch out for another giveaway coming soon, on the OHS Facebook page.
On tonight's card I've used a few products from OHS.

The background (of every element) has been made with 'Linen' card,  inked with  a selection of Ink Sprays, Here . I then ran the card though the Bigshot with an embossing mask.

I stamped the lovely 'floral' script onto a piece of inked card, and heat embossed the edges.
I chucked a bit of EP around the edges too.
Rolled a few roses, cut and embossed the leaves with a Spellbinders die and dyed some ribbon to match.....voila!

When I opened up the pics to do this blog, I wasn't keen on the finished card, something was missing (see pic above) So.....I made another rose and stuck it on, to balance the opposite corner. Thought I'd leave the 'old' pic on, to show you what I mean.

Now I'm happy with it!
What do you think?

Hope you like it, catch you all very soon, Barbara xx

two posts in one day ... why?

Well I have been so grateful for all the post that Barbara has done Elaine suggested a posted on the twinchies theme. Not that hard for me as I do LOVE this size so I have loads of stuff sat made already that has never seen the blog. I feel in love with a 2 inch square when I first met stampbord.

These are just some project ideas I did for the Creative Christmas Club Class for February on Sunday. They feature a lot of OHS embossing powders. If you fancy joining us on Sunday morning you can make some too. More details here
If you want to see a more impressive set of Twinchies go check out Barbara's own blog HERE

And the winner is....

This winner of the stitch in time stamp set, is Stamping in pINK. Your stamps will be winging their way to you as soon as possible.
There will be a new give away very soon and the seriously talented Barbara will be showing what you might want to do with these, This time the offer will be two bigger stamps and I have to say they are among my favourites, so I can't wait to see what Barbara does with them. I might even do a couple of  cards myself (if I ever get out of this office again).
In the mean time if you want to win something extra special I have a very special give away in the March issue of Crafts Beautiful which I think is out now or any day. Click HERE
to find out how you could win a bespoke weekend for two at the studio.

Is it a card? Is it a bird?....No, it's a Tag!

Morning everyone, Monday already........ weekends just don't seem to last long enough, do they?
Well today's post is just a quickie to show you my last creation (for the time being) using the 'Stitch In time' set..............found Here
My next set of cards will feature the (VERY) beautiful SUNFLOWER stamp, found Here.....I'm excited about using the sunflower, and have lots of ideas :)
But for today, I have a TAG to show you......
Don't forget this is your LAST day to enter the draw for the Stich in time stamps....checkout the post below titled NEW ERA.

A fab start was the Colour Chemistry inks ....I do lots of creations in these colours, I LOVE them. (I'm a LEO) I inked a tag with red, yellow and orange spray inks, then used a mask to add red leaves. This time the heart stamps have been used to make a flower.  Add a few more die-cuts using the same inked card to finish it off, and you've got a very simple, bright tag!

The ribbon was originally white, but I couldn't resist using the Colour Chemistry ink pads to colour it......Great inks by the way, soooooooooooooooo juicy, and fabby colours! (Need them all!) check them out in the SHOP ...Here

Everything was stamped onto white 'linen' cardstock, but the CC inks work very well with all types of card.

I have about 14 butterfly dies, but this one from cuttlebug has always remained my favourite.

Well everyone, I'll be back in a couple of days with......SUNFLOWERS!..... but until then, enjoy your crafting.

2 New Cards for Valentine's Day

Morning everyone, hope you're having a great weekend so far, and managing to get lots of crafting done :)
I have TWO, very simple Valentine cards to show you today made with the 'A Stitch In Time' set (found Here)  from Oak House Studio.
I've just used them as....... hearts, but I'll be back tomorrow with a 'Tag', which is NOT 'hearty', if you know what I mean :)

I stamped over the card in black, then stamped a few more hearts in Versamark and heat embossed with the fabulous Colour Chemistry embossing powder in red....cut them out, and mounted onto foam....easy peasey, but such a nice effect!

The addition of a topper made a very quick card.

For this one, I masked off a small section of card, then inked and sprayed it with Pigment ink.....stamped and chopped out a few hearts then mounted onto a piece of 'inky & messy' card. I had great fun making up some fabulous pages of colour to use whenever I need a backing paper.

It's a very simple card, and could be used for a few different occasions.

Hope you like these cards and they inspire you to try something new. I'm really loving getting inky and messy, it's amazing the effects you can get with different colours and stamps......Don't forget to enter the competition to win the stamps, checkout the post called 'New Era' to leave a comment xx
Catch ya tomorrow
