Scrolls Not Just For The Heart

My project today is a painting I made using the Scroll Frames (Heart) and the flower stamps from the Big Christmas Collection set.  Normally when I paint I start from the front and work my way backwards.  However this time I decided to work back to front - meaning that I created the background first.  The background for this painting was the extra paints from my brushes and rollers - I don't like to waste paint by washing them away so always have a piece of card handy to wipe off any paint and you have instant backgrounds.

I painted the face first using gesso and then adding the facial features and colours once the gesso had dried using acrylic paints straight from the tube.  The hair and dress are made from painted text paper.  I applied random stamping with the flower (outline) stamp on to the dress using the midnight ink pad.  After letting everything dry I used the small scroll from the Scroll Frames set to add a border along the left side of the painting and and along one side of the hair - I embossed this with silver embossing powder.  On the opposite side I stamped the flower (full) from the Big Christmas Collection and used silver embossing powder but this time I only sprinkled the powder randomly over the flowers as I wanted a contrast with the stamped image and the texture from the embossing,

Well here is the lady herself - she's a quite a bit different to my other paintings but I wanted to try a different style and it's always good to challenge yourself and get out of your comfort zone.

Until next time keep crafting
